Wittling Away

902 words yesterday!  Bringing my new total for this wip to 27,413.  I’m very happy.  AND, continuing my quest to get my antagonist more active, I figured out that my antagonist ISN’T who I thought it was, it’s someone better.  Definitely a good, good day.

That’s all for now, just a quick post because I’m doing the happy dance about my antag.

9 more days until Cherry Con!!!

Toodles for now.

Dont' forget about the Antagonist!

I’ve spent a LOT of time over the last week getting a whole lot of nothing done on the wip.  Some of this was due to the job that pays the bills, but some of it, okay a LOT of it, was because I didn’t know what to write next.  This always happens when I get around page 100.  I’ve got 25-30% of the book done, but I’m far far far away from The End.

So, as I’m want to do, I sat down tonight and graphed out Act I on paper.  There’s something about writing it down on paper, by character, in scene order, with arrows going all over hell and back to SEE my story.  I don’t know that I can explain it, but it’s wonderful.  The problem is that it doesn’t work until I remember to do it, but that’s a rant for another day.

And this is when the magic happens, not huge magic by any means.  I didn’t figure out Act II and Act III, I didn’t have any epiphany’s, the magic wasn’t fireworks going off in my brain, but there was magic nonetheless.  The magic is that I could see what was missing.  I have 24 scenes in Act I right now, and not once have I heard from the Antagonist.  So, there’s my magic for today– Don’t forget your Antagonist!

No antagonist was why my scenes weren’t moving, nothing was escalating, no one was pushing against my hero and heroine and I couldn’t write because everything was boring.  No Antagonist.

Tomorrow, we hear from The Antagonist.  I can’t wait!

St. James Art Fair 2007!!

The art fair I look forward to all year is here this weekend!  Like we’ve done for the past ten years, Marian and I met for breakfast this morning, her daughter Tara joined us for the day, which was really fun.  The biggest news of today was the HEAT.  I can honestly say in ten years of going to this fair, I have never worried about a sunburn or needed a shower when I got home.  It’s freakin’ October!  If I still lived in California and had flown in for this, I would have been so mad!  I used to use this weekend to get my fall color fix.  I would have been sorely disappointed!

Anyway, I got some great earrings.  They’re the kind that are all one piece and slip into your earring hole and I got some more of my favorite pottery. I’m going to play with iPhoto tomorrow, so I’ll see if I can upload some pics here.

Okay, that’s all for today.  I’m pooped and I’m going to bed.  I have a big day of writing and editing tomorrow, so I need my beauty sleep ;-)
